The New Africa Center has produced an historically important video that documents the development and subsequent growth of the Nation of Islam in Philadelphia during the late 1950s and early 1960s. Showcasing first-hand accounts by early members of this community, Seeds of Awakening: The Early Nation of Islam in Philadelphia creates an insightful portrait of a Black nationalist social reform movement that inspired other movements for self-determination and economic development within the African American community.
