PHILADELPHIA, PA — November 4, 2025
Scribe Video Center invites the community to experience a_blurred_fluxx_00.avi, a boundary-pushing experimental documentary by multidisciplinary artist Osadolor, on Friday, November 14 at 7:00 PM at Scribe Video Center (3908 Lancaster Avenue, West Philadelphia). Admission is $5, $3 for Scribe members with RSVP at scribe.org/blurred.
Co-sponsored by Film and Media Studies, the Office of Inclusive Excellence, and the Lang Center for Civic and Social Responsibility at Swarthmore College, and co-presented with camra and the Center for Experimental Ethnography at the University of Pennsylvania, the event offers Philadelphians a rare opportunity to engage with one of the most exciting emerging voices in Blackqueer cinema.
At just 23, Osadolor has developed a deeply distinctive artistic practice grounded in Lo-Fi and D-I-Y aesthetics. Their film, a_blurred_fluxx_00.avi, transforms memory and lived experience into a dynamic visual archive that celebrates Blackqueer joy, intimacy, and the ongoing process of self-becoming. Through fragmented soundscapes and layered conversations, the film highlights the beauty, complexity, and opacity of Blackqueer life.
Shot across Dallas, the Bay Area, and New York City, a_blurred_fluxx_00.avi follows eleven Blackqueer individuals in moments of reflection, vulnerability, and connection. The result is a visually stunning and emotionally resonant piece that blurs the lines between documentary and dreamscape.
The film builds upon Osadolor’s award-winning Stanford thesis, which argues that Lo-Fi and D-I-Y film aesthetics act as “Afropresentist tools” — empowering Blackqueer creators to reimagine their relationships with identity, memory, and possibility. That scholarship earned Osadolor the 2024 Kennell Jackson Jr. Award and has since evolved into a growing body of work exploring Blackqueer futurity through experimental media.
a_blurred_fluxx_00.avi has garnered international acclaim, screening at the London Breeze Film Festival (as a Best Documentary finalist), Ann Arbor Film Festival, Black Harvest Film Festival, Queer Lisboa 29, Lagos Queer Film Festival, and Weeksville Heritage Center, among others. The film also headlined a sold-out premiere at the Maysles Documentary Center in New York City and inspired a multimedia performance at Chicago’s PRESENTation: an_evening_w/_osadolor.
Through a Lo-Fi lens inspired by early Nollywood and Blackqueer DJ culture, Osadolor reconstructs the documentary form — creating a space for multiplicity, opacity, and liberation. a_blurred_fluxx_00.avi asks audiences to consider what it means to be seen, heard, and felt on one’s own terms.
