Join us on Thursday, July 24th, from 7-10 pm for a reception celebrating Malkia Lydia and Ryan Saunders' video installation, Old School Philly: Reminiscing with Dottie Smith Gayle’s Jazz Community at the historic New Barber’s Hall. Featuring interviews, jam sessions, and social gatherings recorded over twenty years ago for the documentary, Mother Dot's Philadelphia, filmmakers Malkia Lydia and Ryan Saunders present excerpts of their raw, analog tapes, reviving the memory of North Philadelphia’s legendary postwar jazz scene. Meet the artists and join us for light bites, pay-as-you-go cocktail specials, and a musical performance by the Alfie Pollitt All-Star Trio courtesy of New Barber's Hall.
