She Dared to Dream is a powerful portrait of Ayanna Pressley, the first Black woman elected to Congress from Massachusetts, who believes that “the people closest to the pain should be closest to the power” and that a diversity of voices in the political process is essential to crafting more effective public policy. From her early advocacy days to current visionary legislative work, the film follows Pressley’s journey as a defender of low-wage workers, sexual assault survivors, immigrant communities, and a reimagined justice system. A short clip of the next episode of She Dared to Dream, following US Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester from Delaware, will also be screened.
Judges Under Fire focuses on the critical role of US District judges in protecting the rule of law against unconstitutional Executive Orders.
Abby Ginzberg has produced compelling documentaries about race and social justice for more than 35 years, including the NAACP Image Award-winning Barbara Lee: Speaking Truth to Power (2021) as well as Agents of Change (2016), Waging Change (2019), and the Peabody Award-winning Soft Vengeance: Albie Sachs and the New South Africa (2013).
