Jean Carlomusto was part of the collective that produced Testing the Limits: NYC (Testing the Limits Collective, 1987). She is a filmmaker, activist, and interactive media artist whose work explores the complex nature of unique individuals and marginalized populations. Her films are often unorthodox investigations of LGBT history and HIV/AIDS.  Her work has been exhibited internationally in festivals, museums, and on television. She produced and directed HBO's Emmy nominated documentary, Larry Kramer in Love & Anger, featured featured at the Sundance Film Festival. Carlomusto was a cofounder  of both the Media Unit at Gay Men’s Health Crisis and DIVA TV.  In collaboration with Alexandra Juhasz and Hugh Ryan, she curated Compulsive Practice (2016) and Everyday (2016) for Visual Aids, the only contemporary arts organization fully committed to raising AIDS awareness and creating dialogue around HIV issues today, by producing and presenting visual art projects, exhibitions, public forums and publications.
