Great Migration Community Screening - AAUF Conference Center

The Great Migration: A City Transformed (1916-1930), a series of audio and video works that celebrate the historic tide of African Americans to the North, is now coming to your neighborhood. Hosted by community partners, the screenings will take place throughout the fall at libraries, rec centers and schools across the Philadelphia region.

Belmont Grove: Reclaiming Coaquannock – dir. Ollin Yoliztli Calmecac (Documentary, 2016, 9:30 min)

This mini history of Belmont Grove explores its role as a sacred place and meeting ground for indigenous cultures. 

Being from Beckett – by residents and staff of Beckett Gardens/Union Housing Development Corporation (Documentary, 2016, 10 min)

Through the eyes of residents, this film looks at the four-decade history of Beckett Gardens as a home for urban life and low-income housing in North Philadelphia. 

William Penn High School: The Story of the Great School’s Promise – by members of the William Penn Development Coalition (Documentary, 2016, 9 min)

This film is an inside look at how William Penn High School provides a well-rounded education to its students. 

Victory Voices: Visions Anew – by members of St. Paul’s Baptist Church (Documentary, 2016, about 10 min) 

In this film, church members retell the story of how St. Paul’s Baptist Church found a permanent house of worship.
