Yvonne Welbon is an award-winning filmmaker and founder and CEO of the Chicago-based non-profit Sisters in Cinema, inspired by her documentary of the same name, about the history of Black women feature film directors.

Born July 23, 1899, Ruth Ellis was thought to be the oldest "out" African American lesbian. Her story offers a rare opportunity to experience a century of our history as lived by one inspiring woman. Ellis passed away on October 5, 2000, at the age of 101.
The screening will be followed by a Special Learning Session entitled Personal Storytelling as Archiving with the filmmaker.
