Cultural documentarian Sacha Jenkins (Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men; Bitchin’: The Sound and Fury of Rick James) explores the life of one of the most influential artists of the 20th century the genius trumpeter and bandleader Louis Armstrong. The audio from those tapes and an array of archival footage are the driving forces in composing this complex portrait of the jazz musician. With Louis Armstrong’s Black & Blues, Jenkins takes the viewer behind the famous grin of the musician to explore Armstrong's multifaceted experience as a Black American musician.

Sacha Jenkins is a New York-based filmmaker who typically makes music-based documentaries that meet at the intersection between the sounds and the climate that created the sounds.
