Langston Hughes: The Dream Keeper (USA, 1988, 57 min) directed by St. Clair Bourne

Perhaps no other poet has had a greater influence on African-American literature in the 20th century than Langston Hughes (1902-1967). Steeped in the art forms of Black culture – the blues, jazz and spirituals – Hughes was deeply involved in the artistic and political movements of his time. St. Clair Bourne’s film, created as part of the Voices and Visions series , features commentary by James Baldwin, Gwendolyn Brooks, Amiri Baraka, Arnold
Rampersad and performances by Max Roach and Novella Nelson.
