These are films about place. They emerge from the experience of leaving a rural hometown to find work in the city. Yellow And Blue (2013) and If These Were Silent (2014) are optically printed in vibrant colors and rich textures of 16mm reversal film. Laurel Run Road (2015) follows a road trip through the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of southern Appalachia. Entirely improvised in real locations, the film captures a documentary sense of place with intimacy and stillness.
