THE WASHING SOCIETY by Lynne Sachs and Lizzie Olesker (USA, 2018, 44 min)
Inspired by To Joy My Freedom, author Tera Hunter’s depiction of the 1881 organization of African-American laundresses in Atlanta, The Washing Society brings us into New York City laundromats and the experiences of the people who work there. The Washing Society investigates the intersection of history, underpaid work, immigration, and the sheer math of doing laundry.

YOUR DAY IS MY NIGHT (EXCERPT) by Lynne Sachs (USA, 2013, 20 min)
In Chinese, English & Spanish with English Subtitles. Blending autobiographical monologues, intimate conversations, and staged performances, Your Day Is My Night documents the lives of Chinese immigrants sharing a “shift-bed” apartment in the heart of New York City’s Chinatown.
