Special Learning Session: Community Care and Black Futuristic Filmmaking with Ashley Tyner and William Tyner
This session will explore a provocation that frames community care and resistance as Black futurist tools. Engaging Rasheeda Phillips’ (Black Quantum Futures) “technologies of joy” alongside their own interdisciplinary practice incorporating filmmaking, research and tech, Ashley and William Tyner—directors of The People's Way—will delve into the intersections of documentary, technology and community design. In asking what it could mean to reimagine technology through a decolonized, abolitionist lens, they will also discuss the perils and possibilities of AI.
