La Casa de Mama Icha tells the story of 93-year-old Mama Icha who longs for the sun and soil of her homeland, and chooses to repatriate to Colombia after three decades of living abroad in Philadelphia. After 33 years comfortably living abroad, Mama Icha dreams of spending her last days in Mompox, Colombia, in the house she patiently built with money she sent home. Molina poetically captures the dream that many migrants hold for wanting to spend their last days in the houses and places of origins they supported while pursuing the “American Dream”.

Oscar Molina is a Colombian filmmaker with studies in journalism and visual arts. He completed his MFA in Film and Media Arts at Temple University in Philadelphia. Molina’s work has been broadcast on national television, and exhibited in film festivals globally, including in Havana, Cuba; Rosario, Argentina; Bogota, Colombia and Spain.
