Visual Effects - Green Screen Techniques

Shooting on a “green screen” is the technique of shooting your subject against a green background that is later “keyed” out to replace the background with different footage. This workshop introduces you to the basics of setting up a green screen, lighting, shooting and the post-production process of working with green screen footage. You will shoot original footage and learn how to key the green screen in Final Cut Pro. Basic knowledge of camera and lighting and Final Cut Pro required.

Planning a Low-Budget Documentary

Youth Workshop: Flip Out! - Video Journalism Workshop for Teens

DATES: Mondays, August 2, 9, 16, 23 TIME: 1:00 - 4:00 PM; SUMMER 2010

Flip Out! Is an intensive workshop on the tools, techniques, and processes of making a video blog. Participants will design and create video reports to share with other teens from around the world using Flip Video Cameras and Digital Video Post Production Tools. The media projects created in this summer’s Flip Out! will be focused on the investigation of the role of the Media as it is relevant to the lives of young people. Our goal is to expose youth to new ideas and critical thinking processes while building skills in video/TV production.

8 Week High Definition Production Workshop

DATES: Saturdays, July 24, 31, August 7, 14, 21, 28, September 11, 25 TIME: 10:00AM-2:00PM; SPRING 2010

Instructor: Michael J. Dennis
Fee: $250.

This workshop will cover all major aspects of scripting and shooting a short non-fiction film in High Definition video. Over the 8 weeks participants will refine their idea and shoot it using Scribe’s Sony ZIU HD Camera. The class includes instruction in scriptwriting, production planning, HD camera operation, lighting for HD and sound recording. Projects can not be longer than 10 minutes. We encourage documentary subjects that explore personal visions, social issues and/or community life. Participants will work together as crew on each others’ projects. In the fall Scribe will offer a High Definition Final Cut Pro Editing Class.

Participants must submit a brief written description about their proposed project for the 8-week workshop and are required to speak with the instructor before the start date. Workshop is limited to 6 participants.
