Fee: $85. Free to West Philadelphia residents FEE: $85, Free to West Philadelphia residents who are creating works for community radio station, WPEB, but you must pre-register.

Do you have an idea for a short radio documentary about a person, place or happening in West Philadelphia? Bring your project ideas and get instruction in scriptwriting, production planning, sound recording and editing. Topics to be covered include: recommendations for field recording, types of microphones, recording quality, formats, suggested program lengths and meeting broadcast standards. This workshop is designed to give participants a firm foundation in the basics of radio production and storytelling. The intention of this workshop is to create new works to air on WPEB. At the time of registration participants must submit a short description of their idea for the instructor to review prior to the start of class.

INSTRUCTOR: Jeff Towne is an audio engineer and producer for the radio program Echoes, a music soundscape broadcast nationally on over 150 public radio stations and the Internet. He writes instructional columns about all aspects of audio production as Tools Editor for Transom.org , a Peabody award-winning website dedicated to channeling new work and voices to public radio.
