8-Week High Definition Production Workshop
DATES: Tuesdays, July 15 22, 29, August 5, 12, 19, 26, September 2 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM & Saturdays, July 19, 26, August 2, 9, 16, 23, no class 8/30, September 6 from 10:00 AM to noon
This workshop will cover all major aspects of scripting and shooting a short non-fiction film in High Definition video. Over the 8 weeks participants will refine their idea and shoot it using Scribe’s Sony ZIU HD Camera. The class includes instruction in scriptwriting, production planning, HD camera operation, lighting for HD and sound recording. Projects can not be longer than 10 minutes and those exploring personal visions, social issues and/or community life are encouraged. Participants will work together as crew on each others’ projects.

This semester-long “how-to” workshop covers all major aspects of film and video production and supports participants in the completion of short individual projects. Bring your project ideas and get instruction in scriptwriting, production planning, digital video, sound recording, lighting and editing. The workshop will meet on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays, with additional time for shooting and editing projects. Participants will work together as crew on each other’s projects. Three instructors, each with their own area of expertise, will co-teach this workshop.
Super 8 Hand-processing

Friday, August 10 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM includes Storyville screening & Saturday, August 11 from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM followed by a 7:00 PM screening.
Super 8 film continues to be a popular movie maker’s medium, with its unique look and feel. Hand-processing is an adventurous hands-on technique that adds character and texture to your footage. Participants will have access to Super-8 cameras to shoot an in-camera film, 1 roll of Super 8 film and all the chemicals and supplies required for processing. Day One covers how to use a Super 8 camera, film stocks, speeds and processing options. Instructors will also screen works by Super 8 filmmakers.
