For over 15 years the Philadelphia Independent Film Video Association has supported the completion of independent films through the PIFVA Subsidy Grant program. This program features films by recent grant recipients.

David Block’s Dancing Outside The Box (2012, 15 min) is a riveting documentary about wheelchair users who dance with fully able bodied people and shows how two worlds, the fully able bodied and less able bodied come together on dance floor.

Fiona Otway’s Kiss the Paper (2011, 19:45 min) is a poetic documentary that contemplates the revival of the nearly obsolete, centuries-old craft of letterpress printing.

A playful reaction to the absurdity of marketing and a heartfelt yearning for simpler ways of communicating, Malia Bruker’s Chase (2011, 13 min) explores the isolating nature of modern life in this comedic documentary.

Doris Chia-ching Lin’s Drop Dead Gorgeous (2011, 9 min) is a dark surreal mystery that explores the deathly intimacy between two people. Obsessed over the possible infidelity of their marriage, the couple plays a fatal scrabble game.
