Post-realist films have also been called “can-openers” or “bunker-busters’ – strategically they pop the lid on traditional documentary form. Jill Godmilow will present her film, "What Farocki Taught," and several other short post-realist films, to produce a critique of traditional cinema, representational systems and structures, then through that critique, provide previously unimaginable, perhaps radicalizing experience.

Jill Godmilow is an internationally known and celebrated independent filmmaker focusing on feminist, gay, labor and art issues, primarily in non-fiction formats. Her films include Far From Poland, Waiting For The Moon, What Farocki Taught, and Lear '87 Archive (Condensed). After retiring from the University of Notre Dame in 2013, she has been working with Sherry Milner and Ernie Larson on a 4 disc DVD collection of post-realist films called Disruptive Film: Everyday Resistance to Power.
