Amidst a landmark class-action lawsuit over illegal policing quotas, Crime + Punishment chronicles the real lives and struggles of a group of Black and Latino whistleblower cops and the young minorities they are pressured to arrest in New York City. Through innovative and cinematic shooting techniques, this film provides an intimate experience with unprecedented access to the work details, conversations, and difficult life changing decisions of the police officers. Crime + Punishment examines New York City’s police department through the insight and efforts of a group of active duty officers and a private investigator who risk their careers and safety to expose harmful policing practices which have plagued the precincts and people of NYC for decades.
