Documentary editing requires intelligent decision making incorporating multiple aspects of film production. Thoughtful editorial decisions consider the interplay of story, picture, and sound.  The craft of editing lies in your ability to combine these filmic elements effectively.  Kinoy will present segments of his films and discuss the editorial stages from first look to the final cut.

Peter Kinoy is co-founder and Editorial Director of Skylight Engagement, a human rights media organization. His films Poverty OutlawTakeoverTeen Dreams and Teatro! were nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, and When the Mountains Tremble won the award in 1984.  Granito: How to Nail a Dictator (2011) played at Sundance and on national PBS.
